About Me

Our Family-name is Avé  and we live in De Mortel
Important in the history were France and "Zeeland"(Tholen).

There is even a village in France called    "ST. AVE"

De Mortel is a very small village located in the triangle Uden, Boxmeer, Helmond.
We live in the Mortel since  2006
and the Village is part of a bigger Town called Gemert

 AVÉ   "THE GEMERT CONNECTION"

The family name goes way back  when Caspard Cantynsz. born in France in 1691 and baptised in Douai France left for Holland. He belonged to the  "Hugenoten" . Afterwards on the age of 30 he became  member of "The Waalse Kerk".
The first known adress where he lived  was Kortendijkstraat No 49-74-91 in Delfshaven
His occupation was "Master Blacksmith" , he married  july 7 of the year 1720 in Delfshaven with Johanna Blom
He lived until october 5 of the year 1771 in Delfshaven Holland and reached the respectable age , certainly for these days, of 80 years.

He had one  (1) son named Pieter who continued this part of the family-tree.

Pieter Caparsz Avé was baptised  march 15 of the year 1724 and married Johanna Doorman. His occupation was "Blacksmith".
Out of this marriage some children were born, however the most important son  was Pieter Casparsz Avé .

This guy Pieter  Casparsz Avé was baptised march 9 of the year 1755 in Delfshaven. He died october 5 of the year 1801 in Tholen.
On march 3 of the year 1779 he married Catharina Valentina Penning who was born in Nijmegen and died soon after this marriage january 30 of the year 1783

May 21 of this same year 1783 he remarried Matthea Streso babtised november 19 of the year 1754 in Aardenburg and died september 26 of the year  1826 in Tholen.
The children born out of the first marriage were Pieter Casparsz. born june 9 of the year 1779 who, unfortunitly only lived for 3 weeks, and  Pieter Casparsz baptised october 22 of the year 1780 in  holen.

But let's keep to the second marriage.
Born out of this marriage were Magdalena Caspars, baptised october 9 of the year 1784, Johannes Cornelis Casparsz baptised november 1 of the year 1787 in Tholen and Cornelis Casparsz baptised december 8 of the year 1792  in Tholen, married to Johanna Kollaardt  april 30 of the year 1820 in Delfshaven, she died april 15 of the year 1826 in Tholen.
On april 15 of the year 1827 Cornelis Caparsz remarried Jannetje Geus baptised december 6 of the year 1799 in Delfshaven and died september 6 of the year 1854 in Tholen.
Out of this marriage were born Dorothea Johanna born march 31 of theyear 1825 in Tholen, Gerardus Adrianus born june 30 of the year 1828  in Tholen and died april 3 of the year 1915 in Tholen, and Casparus Johannes (Jan) born january 11 of the year 1835  and died october 1 of the year 1876 in Soerabaja Indonesia.

Jan was a rather small man, he measured about 1.57 meter. September 6 of he year 1862 at the age of 27 he  went in miltary service on a  contract of 6 years.
August 4 of the year 1864 the contract was changed into a service contract for 6 years in the colonial troops.
This contract started on the day of embarkment.
October 6 of the year 1864 Casparus Johannes went on board of the  "Neptunus" destiny "Nederlands Indie".

The  "Neptunus" was a ship of the type Schoener-Brik build in the year 1852 by assignment of the Amsterdam Ship-yard J. Muyskens and was named Backenhagen.
Later by bankrup of this ship-yard the ship was sold to the Harlingse Ship-yard Harmsen and Son and was renamed Neptunus.
The ship measured only 159 tons and had a lenght of 12- 15 meters.

January 12 of the year 1865 Casparus Johannes set foot in Batavia, after a journey of 100 days.
You can hardly believe that a vessel like the "Neptunus" (so small) managed to finish this journey.
Casparus Johannes married in "Nederlands Indie" but it was impossible to find out the name of his wife.
This marriage gave birth to 2 sons, Gerardus Adrianus born June 13 of the year 1872 in Amboina, died May 22 of the year 1916 in Madioen.
Johannes born September 12 of the year 1874 in Amboina, died January 21 of the year 1936 in Malang

His 2 sons Gerardus Adrianus was 4 years old and Johannes was 2 years old. They were raised by the Assistent Resident of Amboina.

Johannes Avé married  Josephine Charlotte Nix january 16 of the year 1896 on the age of 22, Josephine Charlotte Nix was born march 28 of the year 1869 in Soerabaya, so she was 27 years old.
Their first two children died as a result of the Spanisch flew before they reached the age of 1 year. Out of this marriage 7 children were  born.Charlotte Nix died march 28 of the year 1918.

Johannes remarried July 18 of the year 1922 on the age of 47 with Bertha Nio The born july 24 of the year 1885, so on that particular  moment she was 36 years old. Out of this marriage  4 children were born.
So Johannes had eleven(11) children in total.
Many of his children and grandchildren did the same as the father of Johannes, leaving their home-country to sattle in other countries, like Brasil, Canada, United States, Polynesia, France, Spain and ofcourse Holland.
Who were those 11 children:

The father of Bertha Nio The  named Teding van Berkhout died during  the first eruption of the vulcano "Kelud" in the year 1919.

Due to the political situation in Indonesia our family had to move. Because of the history the first country to be qualified was ofcourse Holland.
So on month day of the year 1952 our family went on board of the
Johan van Olden Barneveld,  this ship was later renamed to Aquille Lauro and was  shipwrecked later.
After a journey of 3 months they set foot on dutch soil, without knowing anything about "Holland".
For them it was a deception, coming from a warm culture inwhich they lived in quiet a luxery, to a cold and windy culture. Beside that the local     population seemed to have the idea, that those people who had just arrived were underdeveloped.
But never the less, they had to integrate as soon as possible, with of course one big advantage, they already spoke the same language.
But beeing  one of the first foreign groups of people who set foot in Holland, they managed quiet well with the integration.
What did they mis, for instance in Indonesia they were used to have a shower and to take a shower 2 times a day, while in Holland there was a leg of showers, and people were used to wash themselves only on saturday. Further  more they were used having servants for their cooking an for their laundry, here they had to do it themselves. These were just some examples of the things they met here, not to talk about the different food.

The first known adress in Holland were our family lived was at SEINPOST in s'Gravenhage.
From there they went to Oostvoorne from where  they moved to Gemert (N.Br).
In Gemert the family started at the Schout Cox Straat and went via the Schout de Vischere straat to the Burg Rietmanstaat.

Anton Gustaaf  (Guus) died as a result of an accident on a moped. He did not get married. Patricia Aurora was born on november 24 in Bandoeng, on day of the year she married Monald Aben this marriage did not last long and on day of the year she divorced.
On day of the year she married Jeffrey Bulham. Out of this marriage 1child was born. Later she divorced on day of the year ???? . She married again with Henk Slaats  on december ? of the year 2000.

he name of the father was Manolo.
Later she gave birth to a daughter named Valentina. Valentina was born on April 28 of the year 2008
